Formula milk companies were criticized Tuesday for hindering international efforts to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies, the Gulf News reported Wednesday.
Sharjah Medical District was quoted by the daily as saying that efforts to promote breastfeeding as a healthy practice were being discouraged by massive publicity launched by formula milk companies.
Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, director of the Sharjah Medical District said that "to counter this propaganda, National Breastfeeding Week this year attempts to emphasize breastfeeding as one of the acquired human rights.” -- Albawaba.com
