The stock markets in the UAE, supported by the decision to cut interest rates, rose during trading on Thursday. The UAE markets incurred heavy losses in the first four days of trading this week. The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) General Index on Wednesday lost 284 points or 8.43 per cent to close at 3,085.02, extending the four-day loss to almost 29 per cent. The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange Index plummeted 6.43 per cent to end at 3,176.94.
oN Thursday, the DFM index rose by 3.67 percent to close on 3,198 points. Property giant Emaar posted a 3.64 percent rise after its heavy declines earlier this week. The Abu Dhabi stock exchange index rose on Thursday by 0.96 percent. The real estate sector recovered some of its losses with a 3.70 percent increase.
