UAE Foreign Aid Coordination Office (FACO) conducted a workshop today on the “Mechanisms of Documenting Foreign Aid” at the Intercontinental hotel in Abu Dhabi. The UAE governmental and non governmental donor organizations who are active in the provision of foreign aid and humanitarian work, took part at the workshop.
The office said in a press statement issued today that this workshop aimed at introducing the participants with the mechanisms of documenting foreign aid, as well as explaining the principles of the information management system which focuses on collecting, processing, analyzing and publishing data related to UAE foreign aid. The participants also discussed the establishment of a network to manage donors’ data, which will unify all efforts and facilitate their missions to ensure integration of roles and avoid duplication of work.
The statement also pointed out that the workshop is of high importance to the UAE and its humanitarian organizations as they will be working closely on building a central database containing all the information related to UAE foreign aid that was made since the establishment of the union in 1971 until this date, as well as aid that will be made in the coming future. This joint cooperation will enhance the country’s profile as an active contributor to the international humanitarian process promoting transparency and accountability in respect of funds intended for humanitarian interventions.
It should be noted that UAE FACO was established in 2008 to document and coordinate all donations made in the past and that will be made in the future by UAE governmental and non governmental organizations, support and coordinate with all UAE donors in all humanitarian and developmental activities, build and boost capacity of UAE donors, and enhance the role of UAE in setting the agenda for the global humanitarian aid through the participation in local and international forums where humanitarian decisions are being made.
