UAE Formula 2 Powerboat Races Start January 3rd

The Emirates F2 International Championship - President Cup 2002 race for powerboats will begin on January 3rd, 2002. The championship will consist of five rounds, each to take place under a different Gulf host. The contests between these powerful racing ships will take place off the shores of the hosting Gulf countries. 

 

The first round of the championship will begin this week in Abu Dhabi. The second round will be held in Qatar on February 8th, the third round will be in Ajman on March 8th, and the fourth round at Sharjah, on April 5th. The fifth and last championship round will take place at Ras Al Khaima on May 17. 

 

The start of the championship was announced by H.E Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Chairman of the board of Directors of the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA). At a press conference attended by senior representatives of all the participating cities and countries, Sheikh Tariq said the Powerboat race was part of an overall effort to draw attention to Sharjah’s tourism and economy potential through hosting international events. 

 

The event is being sponsored by Belhoul Enterprises and Group of Companies. Malaysian Airlines, ENOC, Al Khaleej Newspaper, and Gulf Today Newspaper, were announced as co sponsors. (www.albawaba.com
