About 300 delegates will take part in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday in a one-day symposium on infectious diseases and their effects on women of various age groups, reported the Gulf News daily.

The symposium, to be held at the Gulf Medical City (GMC), will highlight the latest advances in infectious bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal diseases, and how they affect women, said the daily.

Emphasis will be placed on those diseases affecting pregnant women as well as newborns.

The symposium's 14 topics will cover all aspects of infectious diseases, said the daily.

Fourteen speakers from the UAE, Germany and India were invited to deliver lectures. "Our aim is to hold such symposiums, seminars and conferences at regular intervals for the benefit of the medical fraternity, medical students and faculty in the UAE, and keep them informed about the latest developments in the medical field," GMC president, Thumbay Moideen, said -- Albawaba.com
