General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received US Secretary of State John Kerry, at the Emirates Palace.
Shaikh Mohammad welcomed Kerry and discussed with him ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. They also reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and strategic partnership in the interest of the peoples of the two countries.
The meeting, which was attended by Shaikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, also touched on the latest regional developments, as well as issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Kerry briefed Shaikh Mohammad on the outcome of the 5+1talks on Iran's nuclear dossier and the progress made in the efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the issue. Also discussed were the efforts made by the United States to encourage the Syrian National Coalition to attend Geneva 2 conference and to put an end to the ongoing conflict in Syria to alleviate the plight of the Syrian people.
Shaikh Mohammad and Kerry also discussed the efforts made by the Egyptian government in this transitional period to ensure stability and to achieve political and economic progress in Egypt.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing regional and international efforts for peace, security and stability in the Middle East.
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammad Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), Yousif Mana Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the Unites States and Mohammad Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court were also present at the meeting.
