The UAE has recently lifted its ban on livestock imports from Sudan after confirmation that the Arab African country was free of the Rift Valley Fever disease, reported the Integrated Regional Information Networks (IRIN).

The online news service said that other Gulf states, imposing a similar ban on Sudanese livestock, would also take a similar decision.

The ban on meat and livestock had been imposed on Sudan and other African countries in September 2000, following an outbreak of Rift Valley Fever in Saudi Arabia and Yemen which claimed dozens of lives – Albawaba.com
