South Africans are set to receive a clear and inviting picture of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), once four of their leading journalists publish stories about their current visit to the country.

According to the government of Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the journalists have gathered information for in-depth articles on the destination and its attractions.

The journalists represent four publications: Style Magazine, Leisure Options, South African Garden and Home and Rooi Rose (Afrikaans), the total circulation of which reach half a million copies.

“We have identified and selected these publications for a familiarization trip because they reach out to the higher income group in South Africa which is our target market,” said DTCM manager pf missions, Hamad bin Mejren.

He noted that Dubai’s hotel establishments recorded a ten percent growth in guests during 2000 from the South African market, said a DTCM statement.

“By hosting influential writers from such prestigious publications we strive to create greater awareness of Dubai and the UAE’s attractions as a tourist destination,” bin Mejren said.

A comprehensive itinerary was arranged for the journalists that included a meeting and presentation at the DTCM, as well as site tours of leading hotels and developments in Dubai and the UAE.

A tour of the emirate’s various attractions was also on the itinerary, the statement added – Albawaba.com
