Fujairah Civil Defense (FCD) will soon take delivery of a robot that can detect explosives, Gulf News reported Sunday.
Lt Col Juma Saif Al Ghashemi, the department's Director-General, was quoted by the paper as saying that "the FCD personnel were being trained to use the robot. Ten students from the Higher Colleges of Technology will also learn how to operate it during the second semester of their final year."
On safety in schools he said, "we have asked Fujairah and Dibba Al Fujairah Municipalities to demolish all wooden structured classrooms. We gave private schools a grace period of one year, which ends in three months. Wooden classrooms are a risk to the lives of students. Those who do not conform will not be given safety and security licenses from the Civil Defense." -- Albawaba.com
