The Emirati Federal National Council (FNC) recommended Wednesday the formation of a special committee to maintain international attention on the issue of the UAE islands occupied by Iran, reported the daily Gulf News.
Council members deplored the fact that little was being done to draw international attention to the dispute over Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Mousa, added the daily.
They blamed the local media, especially the English-language newspapers, for their poor coverage of national issues.
The FNC praised the government's demand that Iran end its occupation of the islands.
"We support the government policy of ending the dispute by peaceful means through direct negotiations and by referring it to international forums such as the International Court of Justice," the FNC statement said, quoted by Gulf News - Albawaba.com
