The UAE is planning on sending an amount of thirty tons of dates to the West Bank and Gaza Strip for the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which begins in the first week of November, a newspaper reported Tuesday. Traditionally, Muslims break their dawn-to-dusk fast during Ramadan with dates.
The UAE Red Crescent Society will send two planeloads of dates to Jordan and Egypt next week, according to Al-Ittihad. The shipments will subsequently be delivered to the West Bank and Gaza.
The United Arab Emirates society has prepared an aid program that is to include distributing thousands of fast-breaking food rations to Palestinians during Ramadan and sending clothes for the feast that follows the holy month. (Albawaba.com)
