The death sentence given to Ala’a Al Hashemi, who was found guilty of killing an American kindergarten teacher in Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island last year, has been carried out early Monday, according to Ahmad Al Danhani, Attorney-General at the State Security Prosecution.

State news agency WAM quoted the Attorney-General as saying that the execution was carried out after approval by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Ala'a Badr Abdullah Al Hashemi, 31, was sentenced to death a year ago for stabbing Romanian-born Ibolya Ryan, a mother of 11-year-old twins, in the toilet of a shopping mall in the island and attempting to bomb an American-Egyptian doctor.

Ala’a was also convicted of setting up a social media account to spread terrorist ideology with the intention of undermining the government and, and of giving money to militant organisations for attacks, WAM reported.

On June 29, her death sentence was upheld by the State Security Court at the Federal Supreme Court.
