UAE's emirate of Sharjah will impose, starting Monday, fines on "those who break public health rules," reported the Gulf News daily.
The fines will be imposed by the municipality and police, a senior official told the daily. Municipality director-general, Ahmed Mohammed Fikri, said that the new measure is part of the second stage of the 'Environment Preservation Campaign,' launched by the municipality on January 7 to enforce a local order on public health regulations.
"Municipal inspectors and policemen will carry out checks and impose fines on offenders," he said.
"Offenders will not be pardoned," he added -- Albawaba.com
