H.E. Yousef Hussain Kamal, Minister of Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Qatar will address Economist Conferences’ Financial Leaders Forum – a gala dinner and one day conference taking place on 5th and 6th November 2007 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Qatar. The founder sponsor of the conference is the Qatar Financial Centre Authority.

The Minister will be joined by the cream of the financial services industry in the Middle East and internationally at this invitation-only event.

Andrew Palmer – a senior correspondent of the Economist newspaper -  who will chair the conference, said: “The Middle East is attracting growing attention from international financial institutions. This event will provide an excellent opportunity to interact with some of the most influential executives and policymakers operating in the region.”

The one-day conference will open with a financial markets 20/20 debate, with panellists including Badlisyah Abdul Ghani, Chief Executive Officer, CIMB Islamic; Stuart Pearce, CEO and Director General of the QFC Authority and Rushdi Siddiqui, Global Director, Dow Jones Islamic Market Index and Mukhtar Hussain, Global Head, Principal Investments, HSBC.

Off-the-record to encourage open debate, the forum on November 6th will address key strategic issues and concerns that will preoccupy financial leaders in 2008 and beyond. Topics to be discussed include directing the Gulf’s wealth and trends in GCC money management, talent management and the growth of islamic finance.

Other discussion leaders confirmed to speak include Azmat Taufique, Co-Head Gulf Growth Capital, Investcorp Bank; and Heinz Dollberg, Head of Asia, Middle East and North Africa, Allianz SE; and Adel al Shirawi, Chief Executive Officer, Tamweel.

This unique inaugural event, organised by Economist Conferences, will see financial leaders from the GCC gather together to explore and debate the latest trends shaping the world of finance.

The results of new research on asset management in the Middle East, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by the QFC Authority, will be presented at the one-day forum. HSBC and PricewaterhouseCoopers are lead sponsors.
