United Arab Emirate to Host FIFA’s World Youth Championship

The United Arab Emirates has been selected as the venue for the FIFA World Youth Championship in 2003, beating out the bid of South Korea in the process, the Asian Football  

Confederation (AFC) said in a statement on Friday, cited by the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).  

According to AFC, FIFA announced the selection on Thursday, making the UAE the third Middle Eastern country to host the competition after Saudi Arabia in 1989 and Qatar in 1995.  

The FIFA World Youth Championship has been held every two years since 1977 and this year's competition will be held in Argentina June 17-July 8 – Albawaba.com
