University of Dubai signs agreement with Confucius Institute HQ China for establishment of Confucius Institute at UD

The University of Dubai (UD), a prestigious university in the UAE established by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed an agreement with Confucius Institute Headquarters of China to establish the Confucius Institute at UD. The accord aims to strengthen educational cooperation between China and United Arab Emirates, support and promote the development of Chinese language education and increase mutual understanding between China and UAE.

The Institute will be a non-profit educational institution open to both students and working professionals interested in learning the Chinese language and culture in a supportive environment and at convenient timings in the evenings and during weekends. It takes its name after the legendary Chinese teacher, scholar and philosopher Confucius (551 BCE – 479 BCE). 

Dr M. Omar Hefni, President of UD said: “The University of Dubai is very happy to announce the signing of an agreement with Confucius Institute for the establishment of the Confucius Institute at UD. As one of the fastest developing economies in the world, China is poised to play a very significant role in the future. The advantage of studying at Confucius Institute at UD is that, UD is the only university in UAE which enjoys complete access to the business community and its various business groups and presents an engaging, dynamic learning experience with programs delivered in a highly interactive, hands-on learning style at one of the nation’s finest universities.” 

The University of Dubai has the singular distinction of establishing the Confucius Institute as an educational institute devoted to satisfy the demands of people from different countries and regions of the world seeking to learn the Chinese language and enhance their understanding of the language and culture of China, strengthen educational and cultural exchange and cooperation between China and other countries to deepen friendly relationships with other nations, promote multi-cultural development and establish a harmonious world.

The Institute services include teaching Chinese online, training Chinese teachers, providing its students with Chinese textbooks and introducing the history, culture, tourism and business between China and the local country.
