ALBAWABA - In the most recent disruption of humanitarian services in Gaza, the UN agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, halted its food delivery operation in the southern city of Rafah on Tuesday.

Over half of Gaza's population depends on UNWRA's services, but the organization has had to stop since it is out of food and the Israeli bombardment on the city has rendered it unsafe to continue.

In a statement on Tuesday, UNRWA stated that just seven of its 24 health centers were operating and that, as a result of "closures/disruptions" at the Rafah and Karem Abu Salem crossings into Gaza (known as Kerem Shalom in Israel), the organization had not received any medical supplies in the previous ten days.

Since Israel took control of and blocked the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt earlier this month, the humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave has gotten worse.

Since May 7, the crucial crossing has been shuttered, which had functioned as a main route for life-saving aid and a point of entry and departure for humanitarian workers.

Edem Wosornu, a senior UN relief official, warned the UN Security Council on Monday that there wasn't enough fuel or supplies to offer the Gazan people any significant assistance.

She added that at least 82,000 tonnes of goods had been blocked from being delivered because of the closure of the Rafah crossing from Egypt, and that access to the Karem Abu Salem crossing from Israel was restricted because of conflicts, difficult logistical conditions, and intricate coordination processes.

"We are running out of words to describe what is happening in Gaza. We have described it as a catastrophe, a nightmare, as hell on earth. It is all of these, and worse," Wosornu stated.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

The latest statistics by the Ministry of Health in Gaza revealed that the death toll from Israeli brutal pounding on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has soared to 35,562+ people, with more than 79,652+ injuries.

Since then, approximately 85% of Gazans have been displaced, all of whom are suffering from severe food insecurity, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Hundreds of thousands of people lack shelter, and aid trucks are entering the area at a lower rate than before the conflict began.
