US airstrike in Somalia kills 150 al-Shabaab militants

According to NBC news, a US airstrike in Somalia has killed upwards of 150 al-Shabaab militants. 

Media reports stated that the airstrike hit a training camp for over 200 militants in El Dibi area near Bulo-Burde town.

US officials stated that the extremists were planning an "imminent large-scale attack" against US and regional governmental forces.

The training camp had been under survelliance for some time before the airstrike occured.

Al-Shabaab pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda in 2012 and has been commiting acts of violence in Somalia and Kenya since 2006.
