(MEBG) - Two years after it first went to tender, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract on the offshore Khuff gas development project in Abu Dhabi has finally been awarded to U.S.-based ABB Lummus Global. The project is valued at about $260 million, reports MEED.

The Khuff project, involving the exploitation of a gas reservoir underlying the Abu al-Bakhoosh and Umm Shaif fields, is being handled by Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco), on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

ABB will be assisted on Khuff by the local National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), which will carry out all construction work. The project involves the supply and installation of a platform in both the Abu al-Bakhoosh and Umm Shaif fields, a 30-inch-diameter pipeline running from Abu al-Bakhoosh to Umm Shaif, and a 40-inch-diameter pipeline linking Umm Shaif to Das island.

The development is expected to produce about 600 million cubic feet a day of gas.
