Baghdad / NINA / - The White House announced that the United States has modified its missile technology export control system to expand its allies' access to it.

The White House statement said: "These policy changes will help the United States advance common defense goals with close allies, including implementing the AUKUS system, while maintaining strong leadership in nonproliferation and export control policies."

The changes were made on January 3, when US President Joe Biden issued a national security memorandum aimed at updating missile technology export policy to expand access to US partners such as the United Kingdom and Australia, which are part of the AUKUS bloc, according to the US administration.

US authorities should show greater flexibility when considering each specific case of exporting such technologies, and facilitate the transfer of “certain Category 1 military missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and space launch vehicle systems to designated partners with robust export control regimes,” according to the changes.

The Missile Technology Control Regime is an informal association of 35 countries, including the United States and Russia, with the goal of preventing missile proliferation./End
