ALBAWABA- Relentless airstrikes by the United States and Israel hit a residential complex in eastern Tehran on Monday, killing and injuring dozens of civilians, according to Iranian officials, as the conflict between the two sides intensifies.
Witnesses in the Shahrak-e Gharb or Sa'adat Abad neighborhood said multiple missiles struck three apartment buildings nearly simultaneously, causing them to collapse. A nearby police station was also reportedly damaged. Rescue teams worked through the rubble to recover survivors and victims, while Iranian state media condemned the attack as a strike on a densely populated civilian area.
Israeli officials said the operation targeted “regime infrastructure” allegedly embedded within civilian zones, though the strikes drew criticism and renewed concern internationally over the growing civilian toll.
In a separate overnight operation into Sunday, the Israeli Air Force said it destroyed a private aircraft once used by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei at Mehrabad International Airport. Satellite images released by Israel showed the aircraft destroyed on the ground during a broader attack that it said also destroyed 16 aircraft linked to the Quds Force.
Mehrabad, a dual-use airport serving both civilian and military flights, reportedly suffered significant damage, disrupting parts of its civilian operations. Israeli authorities said the strike was aimed at assets connected to what they described as “terror regime operations,” while Iranian officials rejected the claim and vowed retaliation.
The strikes come amid a widening military confrontation after Washington and Tel Aviv launched a campaign against Iran on February 28, accusing Tehran of nuclear escalation and regional aggression. Iran has since responded with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and several Gulf states.
According to the latest reports, more than 200 Iranian cities have been jointly struck by the US and Israel since the conflict began, with ongoing attacks reported in Tehran, Shiraz, and Tabriz.
Iranian authorities say at least 1,444 people have been killed and 18,551 injured, most of them civilians. Israel reports 15 deaths and 3,138 injuries, while US forces say 13 troops have been killed and around 140 to 150 wounded.
