The United States launched a campaign Thursday to publicize a US offer of up to five million dollars in reward money for information leading to the prevention of terrorist acts, the State Department said.
The centerpiece is a 30-second public service announcement in eight languages showing "the plague of terrorism through visual images," said State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.
"We'll be using posters, print media, and radio ads to emphasize this prevention message. Posters will be printed in the same eight languages and distributed worldwide," he said.
The material will be distributed by US missions abroad in English, German, French, Chinese Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, Spanish and Urdu, he said.
The publicity campaign will cost about 100,000 dollars, he said.
He said 20 people have been imprisoned since 1984 as a result of a similar reward program that has paid out six million dollars over the year for information leading to the arrest of international terrorists -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
