The airstrikes conducted in the past five months by the US-led coalition against Daesh (ISIS) in Syria have killed 1,600 people, a monitor told AFP. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said almost all of those killed were militants for Daesh and al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front.
The monitor said 1,465 Daesh fighters were killed, most of them foreign fighters, since September when the airstrikes began. Another 73 were al-Nusra militants.
The Obama administration, along with several other Arab countries, began airstrikes six months ago in efforts to increase its operations against Daesh.
