U.S. officials on Tuesday announced rewards worth $12 million for information leading to the arrest of alleged two Hezbollah officials – Talal Hamiyah and Fu'ad Shukr.

The rewards were announced at a press conference by U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism official Nathan Sales.

“With our partners, we will confront Hezbollah across the globe and we will bring its leaders and operatives to justice,” Sales said.

“Hezbollah remains one of the world’s most dangerous terrorist groups,” he added.

According to a notice issued by the U.S. State Department, Hamiyah is “the head of Hezbollah's External Security Organization (ESO),” which allegedly “maintains organized cells worldwide.”

“The ESO is the Hezbollah element responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of terrorist attacks outside of Lebanon,” the U.S. statement said.

Shukr meanwhile is “a senior Hezbollah operative” who “played a central role in the planning and execution of the Oct. 23, 1983, U.S. Marine Corps Barracks Bombing in Beirut, Lebanon, which killed 241 U.S. service personnel,” the State Department said.
