Egyptian authorities were due on Saturday to receive an Egyptian airline mechanic who was arrested at his job at Lambert St. Louis International Airport after he was released, according to KDSK news.

Word of Osama El Far's release came while supporters held a vigil at the Eagleton Courthouse in downtown St. Louis

The demonstrators were protesting the jailing of hundreds of people with Mideast ties, since the September 11th attacks.

El Far has been held for two months in a southern Missouri jail on federal charges for overstaying his student visa. He continues to deny any relationship with the terrorists who struck in New York and Washington DC, said the report.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher, who was in the US, on Thursday said that Washington had given him assurances that Egyptian detained for links with the terror attacks would have access to their rights, including a lawyer – Albawaba.com
