Sunday will mark the reopening of 18 out of the 19 U.S. embassies shut amid security concerns, according to a statement from the U.S. State Department on Friday.
Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the State department, said the embassy in Yemen will remain closed “because of ongoing concerns about a threat stream indicating the potential for terrorist attacks emanating from Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula." She added that the U.S. consulate in Lahore, Pakistan will remain closed as well, reported Reuters news agency.
During a White House press conference, U.S. President Barack Obama refused to comment on ongoing drone strikes. The State department did not mention when U.S. installations would reopen in Sanaa and Lahore, according to Reuters.
