ALBAWABA- Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally. This decision comes amid increasing outcry and scrutiny over the agency's failure to fulfill its core mission of protecting current and former presidents.

Cheatle, who had served as the Secret Service director since August 2022, announced her departure in an email to staff. 

She had been facing growing calls to resign and several investigations into how the shooter managed to get so close to the Republican presidential nominee at an outdoor campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
