The United States Ridicule Taliban’s latest statements, in which the militia said that they “do not want to fight America, but want to negotiate.”
"It is ridiculous to say things like that," said the State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.
"They say they do not want to fight with the American people, and yet they harbor and support people who killed 5,000 Americans and people from 80 other countries," Boucher added.
"Everybody knows the United States is not the only one that has a problem with their harboring foreign terrorists," Boucher was quoted as saying by Kuwait’s official news agency (KUNA).
Boucher was asked to respond to a statement on Wednesday by the Taliban education minister, who said that the Taliban is willing to negotiate with the United States.
Taliban conditioned its negotiation with the US for proof of Osama bin Laden's alleged involvement in the September 11 terrorist attacks on the US.
"They (the Taliban) have been under a UN order for years to turn over Osama bin Laden, his leadership, and dismantle the (terrorist) networks," Boucher said, the agency added.
"There is abundant information on the network's responsibilities for the (1998) attacks on the (US) embassies in Africa, and all one has to do is watch television to find Osama bin Laden claiming responsibility for the September 11th bombings.
"There is no question of the responsibility of the Taliban, and there is no question of what they should do." – Albawaba.com
