Warplanes from a US-British coalition on Friday struck Iraqi air defense sites in southern Iraq for the third consecutive day, a US military official said, adding that the attack was in response to "hostile threats" to coalition aircraft.
"We did conduct a strike against command and control sites in southern Iraq," said Army Colonel Rick Thomas, spokesman for the US Central Command in Tampa, Florida.
But he added that "it was in response to their hostile threats and not related to the September 11 terrorist attacks" on the United States -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
