Following an extensive six-week Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) promotional period, five lucky winners are living proof that using a Visa payment card is the best way to pay when they bagged grand prizes at a finale event at BINHENDI Avenue on Wednesday, 21 February 2007.

By using her Visa card to pay for AED 100 worth of convenience items at an EPPCO petrol station, Ms Ayat Abdel Mohsen Abdalla, an Egyptian national employed at Jumbo Electronics, was delighted to hear she was the lucky winner of a glittering, intricately-designed necklace worth AED 275,000, showcasing a 46ct precious blue gem Topaz, complemented by 20ct’s of dazzling, brilliant cut white diamonds, hand crafted exclusively for Visa by Damas.

When notified she had won the grand prize Ms Ayat Abdel Mohsen Abdalla, said: “I am extremely happy to have won this prize even though I still can’t believe it. To be selected as the winner of such a valuable prize is a great and rewarding feeling. I use my Visa card regularly instead of cash as it is more convenient than visiting the ATM to withdraw cash and now I am a firm believer it pays to shop with Visa.”

Three runner’s up, including Mr Ravi Kiran, an Indian national Visa Electron customer of National Bank of Dubai who spent AED 145 at Jumbo Electronics in addition to two other winners who could not attend the prize-giving event, were equally pleased to win stunning one-off necklaces made with a beautiful 30ct Topaz gem set with 9ct’s of diamond stones, each worth AED 75,000.

During the six-week DSF promotion, every transaction made with a Visa Credit or Visa Electron card automatically allowed cardholders to enter into the prize draw to win one of the four precious diamond and blue gemstone necklaces. Visa cardholders were also entitled to double their chances of winning simply by shopping at selected BINHENDI Avenue outlets and other participating retailers.

In addition, Visa International partnered with BINHENDI Avenue to offer its valued cardholders the opportunity to win a Continental GT Bentley car, simply by spending a minimum of AED 1,000 with a Visa Electron or Visa credit card at any of the participating BINHENDI Avenue outlets.

An ecstatic Mr Abdul Karim Farook, who spent AED 1,628 in Hugo Boss at BINHENDI Avenue on his Emirates Bank International Visa card was overwhelmed when he was presented the keys to his brand new, luxurious two-door Continental GT Bentley car.

Speaking at the prize giving ceremony, Mr Farook, said: “I regularly use my Visa card when making large purchases and for everyday spending. I never expected to win this fantastic prize but now that I have I’ll be sure to continue use my Visa card to avail of the privileges it offers.”

“BINHENDI Avenue has been a favourite shopping experience for me, especially with accessible promotions such as this one. I would like to thank BINHENDI Avenue and Visa for the opportunity they have provided me,” continued Mr Farook.

Presenting the awards, Mr. Kamran Siddiqi, General Manager of Visa International in the Middle East said, “It gives me great pleasure to present such a fine selection of prizes. Visa leads through innovation with promotions, as proved during DSF where we were awarded the prestigious ‘Best Retail Promotion’ Innovation Award. Our leading edge is the ability to provide value to our customers, allowing them to enjoy special privileges and exclusive offers unique to Visa.”

Mr. Mohi-Din BinHendi, President of BinHendi Enterprises added, “We decided to partner with Visa during this year’s DSF to offer Visa cardholders an opportunity to shop and win at one the best shopping destinations in the UAE.
