Britain’s top championship golf courses are now within easy reach for the Middle East’s growing luxury golfing market through Emirates Holidays, the tour-operating arm of Emirates Airlines.

VisitBritain, the British national tourism agency, showcased its wide variety of golf holiday offerings for the first time at this year’s Emirates Holidays World event, a three-day interactive travel fair being held at the InterContinental Hotel Convention Centre, Dubai Festival City from 30 April – 2 May.

This year’s “Golf in Britain” theme has been chosen by VisitBritain to attract the region’s growing number of luxury golf travellers, and further promote the UK’s major golfing events including the Ryder Cup, one of the world's most prestigious sporting events, played on a biennial basis between Europe and the United States taking place from 1-3 October 2010 .

“Golf is a fast-becoming a popular activity in the Middle East following a large number of golf course openings in the region, and as a result, we expect an increase in travellers from the Middle East to the UK looking for the ideal journey of a lifetime.  The UK boasts the world’s best golf courses and five-star luxury accommodation, coupled with activities rich in culture and heritage,” said Carol Maddison, UAE Manager, VisitBritain.

“Having participated in Emirates Holidays World event for more than 10 consecutive years, this will be the first time VisitBritain will be showcasing “Golf in Britain” to strategically coincide with major golfing events in the UK, further establishing Britain as a leading luxury golfing-holiday capital,” added Maddison.

World-famous golf courses promoted through Emirates Holidays include St. Andrews, home to the Open Championships from 15-18 July, Gleneagles, home to three of the top Scottish Championship Golf Courses, a five-star luxury hotel, and a wide range of exhilarating outdoor leisure activities, and Turnberry, a golf resort made up of three championship courses, and host to the 2009 Open Championships.

Further information on Britain’s world-famous golf courses and luxury golf packages is now available in the 2010 Emirates Holidays brochure, which launched on 30 April, at the Emirates Holiday World event.

The annual Emirates Holidays World event is an opportunity to bring the brochure to life for consumers and travel agents who will be able to learn more about destinations and related holiday activities.
