Waha Capital appoints new M&A Director
Waha Capital, PJSC today announced the appointment of Wael Aburida as Director of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A).
In his capacity as Director of M&A, Aburida will lead the M&A and strategic investment activities for Waha Capital which is actively exploring numerous growth opportunities across its targeted sectors, which include maritime, aviation, big-ticket leasing, land development and financial services.
Waha Capital CEO Samer Alhaj noted that the holding company's vision is to build a world-class business by finding and bringing on board accomplished professionals, and a key plank of the corporate strategy is to achieve growth and diversification through mergers and acquisitions. “With his broad range of experience and knowledge, Aburida is a significant addition to our team of professionals who have considerable international experience. Aburida has over 16 years of extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, investment banking, equity research, corporate development, finance and management fields. Prior to joining Waha Capital, Aburida was Managing Director of Technology Investment Banking for Nollenberger Capital Partners Inc., a full-service broker-dealer investment banking firm, based in San Francisco, California, USA.
Aburida’s previous significant postings in the US included his tenure with DCA Partners, LLC as Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking. Prior to DCA, Aburida was Director and co-head of the Global M&A group for Intel Corporation, where he was responsible for restructuring and negotiating acquisitions, divestitures, spinouts and minority equity investments across all Intel’s business lines. Prior to Intel, Aburida was an M&A associate at Bowles Hollowell Conner/First Union Securities and previously worked in the Technology M&A group at Lehman Brothers in New York. Aburida was also an equity research analyst at Prudential Securities in New York.
Aburida has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and business from Lake Forest College and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, US.
Waha Capital was launched last month in Abu Dhabi after restructuring Oasis International Leasing PJSC. Waha Capital is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Market (ADSM) and has four subsidiaries – Waha Leasing, Waha Financial Services, Waha Land and Waha Maritime.
