Big masses of Damascus residents gathered Wednesday morning to greet President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela at the beginning of his three-day historical visit to Syria. According to SANA, streets in which the motorcade of the Latin American guest moved from Omayad Square to the Martyr Monument on Mount Qasyoun were crowded with Syrians.
The crowds hailed Syria's guest, praising his "brave" stances in supporting the Arab legitimate rights represented by summoning of the Venezuelan Ambassador to Israel in protest of Israeli aggression against Lebanon in addition to Chavez's rejection of the US policies.
The crowds carried flags of Syria and Venezuela, photos of the two Presidents al-Assad and Chavez.
