ALBAWABA - A report released by the Washington Post said that the government in the United States has secretly agreed on over 100 weapons sales to Israel since the start of its war on Gaza on Oct. 7.
According to the Washington Post report in which the American newspaper cited US officials and lawmakers the deals included thousands of bombs.
In detail, the report reveals classified documents sent by administration officials in the Biden government to Congress members which clarify that the arms deals included "thousands of precision-guided munitions, small diameter bombs, bunker busters, small arms and other lethal aid."
Washington Post also added that several weapons transfers were processed without public debate "because each fell under a specific dollar amount that requires the executive branch to individually notify Congress.".
In addition to the secret arms sales to Israel, the US government, led by President Joe Biden, is intentionally planning to send $14 billion worth of additional military aid to Israel, however, it needs final approval from the US House of Representatives.
Israeli war in Gaza
Israel launched a war in Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, in response to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by the Hamas military group against Tel Aviv, which was the biggest offensive in decades.
Since last October, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that at least 30,800 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli aggression in addition to 72,298 injuries.
On Wednesday, Jamie McGoldrick, the UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said: "Hunger has reached catastrophic levels."
He also urged for a military access road to northern Gaza for a minimum of 300 aid trucks every day as famine fears spread after the death of at least 20 babies due to hunger.
Al-Aqsa Flood operation
Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.
Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip, captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.
