Following their success at the recent Big 5 exhibition in November last year where $6 million worth of deals were signed, leading Welsh companies in the construction industry are returning to the UAE for a specially scheduled trade mission organised by International Business Wales. Representatives from the mission will be meeting leading companies in the UAE to promote trade relations between the UAE and one of the UK’s fastest growing economic zones. The three day visit begins with a business to business clinic on 11th March at the Rotana Towers Hotel, Sheikh Zayad Road with the delegation moving on to Qatar later in the week.

As the rapid development of the UAE region continues apace, Welsh firms are well-equipped to provide the kind of advanced technologies that the construction sector now requires.

Lee Jennings, Vice President (Middle East) of International Business Wales, said: “The local market is continually looking for the latest technologies to support the booming construction industry in the region and Welsh companies have proved they have the innovative solutions to deal with many of the growing challenges.”

He continued to elaborate, “Since opening our office in Dubai in 2004, exports from Wales have increased by almost 500%. In 2003 Welsh exports to the UAE totalled $68 million compared to $344 million in 2005. Although final figures are yet to be published for 2006, trade figures up to Q3 are looking equally impressive with $243 million worth of business being conducted with the UAE.”

Local companies attending the business clinic will experience one to one sessions and can expect to gain valuable insights on industry leading technologies and services that will enhance their own enterprises in the region.
