NATO estimates at "just above 3,000" the number of arms that ethnic Albanian guerrillas operating in Macedonia should hand over to its arms collection mission, a Western military source said here Friday.
General Gunnar Lange, who is commanding the NATO arms collection mission, said earlier that alliance officials and rebels had reached agreement on the number of weapons to be collected under a peace accord.
But NATO still must convince the Macedonian government the figure is credible.
The source said the number to be presented to the Macedonian authorities was not negotiable -- SKOPJE (AFP)
