Who is Jordanian Janette Nesheiwat, Trump's US Surgeon General?

ALBAWABA - US President-elect Donald Trump picked on Friday Jordanian-origin Dr. Janette Nesheiwat to be the United States Surgeon General.

Donald Trump said: "She is committed to ensuring that Americans have access to affordable, quality healthcare, and believes in empowering individuals to take charge of their health to live longer, healthier lives."

Who is Janette Nesheiwat?

Janette Nesheiwat is a doctor and television personality, she was born one of five children to Christian Jordanian immigrant parents and is the sister of Julia Nesheiwat, who previously served as homeland security adviser in the Trump administration from 2020 to 2021.

Nesheiwat is 48 years old and was born in Carmel, New York. She moved with her family to Umatilla, Florida, in 1982. She graduated from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten, Netherlands.

Janette then completed her residency program in Family Medicine at Arkansas State University for Medical Sciences in 2009.

Nonetheless, she also operates a network of urgent care centers in New York and New Jersey and has her own brand of nutritional supplements and vitamins.

She is a member of Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Assistance, Relief Team, and has provided lifesaving care during crises in Morocco, Haiti and Poland.
