Wildfires in Israel, some of which are believed to have been caused by arson, have spread further, injuring at least three seriously and many others moderately.

Authorities said Saturday three people were seriously injured as the blaze took hold over buildings in a Jewish settlement on the West Bank.

Several others were moderately injured in the Maale Adumim fire, Israel Radio reported, noting that nearby Palestinian villages were also facing fires, which are spreading rapidly due to dry and windy weather conditions.

Israel has called in international aid, while planes, trucks and firefighters have been flown in from European countries, Arab nations and the United States. Local firefighters have expressed exhaustion after battling the fires for days.

Israeli authorities have arrested more than a dozen people on charges of arson, with some ministers blaming Arab nationalists.

Hundreds of homes have been damaged in Israel, including in both Jewish and Arab areas. In the northern city of Haifa, about 200 families were made homeless, the Ynet news portal reported. Thousands of people have been evacuated from areas under threat.
