Winners of UAE Young Lions 2010 to Participate in Cannes Competition on All Expense-Paid Trip

Dubai Media City, a member of TECOM Investments, today jointly announced with Motivate Val Morgan and Emirates airline the winners of the UAE Young Lions 2010 who will be flown on an all-expense paid trip to Cannes for participating in the Young Lions Competition as part of the 57th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.

The Young Lions Competition is open to advertising professionals up to 28 years old. The participating teams, comprising an art director and copywriter, are selected through a pre-selection process in their own country.

The UAE winning team comprises name Ashraf Majiet, Art Director, and Dario Albuquerque, Copywriter from Tonic Communications. The duo was selected out of 10 teams from leading creative agencies that participated. Each year, the participating teams design a campaign for a charitable organization based on a creative brief that outlines the campaign objectives. This year's charitable organization was Helping Hands UAE, which provides assistance to construction workers. The Creative Club comprising senior creatives from Dubai's advertising agencies among other distinguished panel participated in the judging process.

The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival is the world's only truly global meeting place for professionals in the communications industry. It offers seven days of award ceremonies, seminars, workshops, master classes, exhibitions, screenings and networking. The 2010 edition of the festival will be held from 20-26 June.

Winners of the Young Lions Competition are presented their medal on stage at the official Cannes Lions Awards Ceremony and receive free flights, registration and accommodation for the following year's festival.

The International Advertising Festival - Cannes Lions - is the world's biggest celebration of creativity in communications. As the most prestigious international annual advertising awards, over 22,500 entries from all over the world are showcased and judged at the festival. Over 6,000 delegates from 90 countries attend seven days of exhibitions, screenings, as well as over 50 high-profile seminars, 30 workshops and master classes presented by renowned worldwide industry leaders.
