Groundbreaking research into the prevention and reversal of age-related diseases to be showcased at Dubai congress.

More than 70 internationally renowned medical experts will gather in Dubai on November 7-9 2008 to present the latest scientific research at the Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine (DCAAAM).

Local physicians and healthcare professionals will learn about pioneering research into the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, cancer and heart disease, together with the latest techniques and updates on cosmetic surgery and aesthetics.

The premiere Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging & Aesthetic Medicine, organised by Tarsus and The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), joins an already established network of international anti-aging events including Las Vegas, Singapore, Tokyo, Germany, China and Mumbai. This year’s Congress takes place at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Says Dr Ali Mohamed, Chairman of The Arabian Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine: “When we talk about anti-aging, people tend to focus on the cosmetic aspects and external appearance. Whilst these are important elements, anti-aging medicine is also a serious scientific discipline that concerns itself with the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related decline and diseases.

“Presentations at the Dubai event will include innovations and discoveries into the use of stem cells, advances in cancer therapy, as well as the use of bio-identical hormones in anti-aging and breast cancer,” he adds.

At the conference, pioneering surgeon Dr Susan Lim will be discussing Autologous Platelet Cell Concentrate as a Biological Scaffold for Soft Tissue Regeneration. The founder and Chairman of her Singaporean-based Biotechnology firm Stem Cell Technologies i, Dr Lim focuses on adult stem cells in regenerative medicine. She also concentrates on cell therapy for chronic diseases affecting the heart, liver, joints and diabetes.

One of the presenters of Aesthetic Medicine will be UAE-based Dr Maria Khattar PhD, who established Aesthetica Clinic in 2002 at the JW Marriott Business Complex and has recently opened her new clinic in Dubai Healthcare City.

The highly respected Dr Khattar has worked in the field of pharmacology for more than 30 years and will be discussing the revolutionary Autologous Cellular Rejuvenation Therapy (ACR). Says Dr Khattar: “What makes ACR completely different from other skin refining treatments is that it successfully uses the patient’s own blood to harvest specific cells that are responsible for tissue repair, namely the platelets.”

Joining the Aesthetic Medicine panel will be laser specialists Dr Farouk Al-Watban MSc, PhD, Principal Scientist at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in Riyadh and Dr Martin Kassir MD, FAAD, who is a board-certified dermatologist based in Dallas.
Other renowned speakers at DCAAAM include: Dr Stanislas R Burzynski MD PhD presenting the Practical Application of Gene Silencing Theory of Aging; Dr Michael Colgan PhD, CCN one of the world’s most popular scientific experts in nutrition who will be speaking on the Inhibition of Aging: The Next Decade; Dr Ali Mohamed MD will present The World's First BIHRT Baby Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy; and Dr Claus Muss MD will discuss A New Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.

The Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 7-9 November.
