World Bank Approves $21.3m Credit to Yemen for Irrigation Improvement Project

The World Bank has approved a 21.3-million-dollar credit to Yemen to improve irrigation projects in the country, according to a press release published on the World Bank's website.  

The project is the first phase in a comprehensive program designed to improve surface irrigation systems in Yemen, said the press release. 

The program is expected to benefit farmers, farm workers and their families over a total area of 90,000 hectares (covering the main spate irrigation systems in Yemen), of which an area of 26,000 hectares would be covered under the first phase of the project, said the release.  

It added that the overall project cost is $25.6 million - Albawaba.com
