The World Bank and the Palestinian Authority signed last week a credit agreement worth $9.5m to finance an environmental project, according to a press release published by the World Bank.
The agreement aims at financing interventions in solid waste collection, transfer, and disposal of waste for the West Bank city of Jenin.
The project will also assist in institutional-building within the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, said the press release.
"The project is expected to benefit the 200,000 inhabitants in towns and villages of Jenin through better access to solid waste management services; through cleaner environment including reduction in air pollution currently being generated from random waste burning; and through prevention of leachate pollution," according to the press release - Albawaba.com
