ALBAWABA - In a recent development reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), there are claims of ongoing efforts to draft a ceasefire plan lasting around four months between Israel and Palestine. As Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip persist since October 7, the reported plan, attributed to Egyptian officials, is said to include the release of all prisoners.

The proposed initial phase involves a six-week ceasefire, during which Israeli women, children, and elderly individuals in Gaza would be freed. In return, Israel would release Palestinian prisoners and permit an increase in aid to Gaza.

According to the WSJ report, the subsequent stage of the plan envisions Hamas releasing Israeli soldiers and handing over the bodies of those deceased in Gaza to Israel.

It is suggested that Hamas would receive international guarantees, including from the U.S., paving the way for a comprehensive agreement aimed at permanently halting attacks on the Gaza Strip. This development underscores the diplomatic endeavors underway to establish both a temporary truce and a potential long-term resolution in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
