Located at the IT Zone, Xerox is proud to be taking part in Gastech 2006 (4th – 7th December 2006), the largest gas show in the world, which draws energy professionals from different markets. Xerox Document Management experts are on hand to discuss how Xerox has helped oil & gas companies globally realize the importance of effective document management processes to deliver real improvements in efficiency and cost savings.

The IT Zone, a new addition to the Gastech exhibition, is an ideal forum for commercial and technical professionals within the gas world to have access to leading information technology providers in the industry and discover new ideas on how technology can directly benefit their business processes. During the course of the exhibition, Xerox Document Management experts will be conducting a series of workshops designed to give visitors an insight into specific solutions to the gas industry.

“We are delighted to be part of such an important forum and feel that as Xerox works with many of the major oil & gas companies in the MEA region and globally, there is a lot of synergy between our Global Services offerings and the specific needs of this industry and hence have considerable experience to share at this event,” said Ayman Mattar, Marketing Manager, Xerox Middle East.

Xerox looks at the customer’s business processes from end-to-end, to analyze the way people and processes interact with technology using Xerox’s Lean Six Sigma Methodology. Once the challenges are understood, Xerox Global Services identify opportunities, and set tangible and measurable objectives for business results. Xerox Global Services are accountable for designing and implementing solutions to achieve those objectives.

Xerox has an extensive range of Smarter Document Management products and services suitable for the oil & gas sector. The Business Process Services offering from Xerox Global Services allows Xerox to address key document related business process challenges that the oil & gas companies face. For example, time spent searching for information, for maintenance workers, can be as much as 30% of their time and for engineering personnel the range is 20-60% of their time (source: Plugging the Brain Drain in Energy, Feblowitz, Jill, et. al., AMR Research).

Xerox has in-depth experience in outsourcing central print room facilities both within the region and globally. These print rooms contain high volume, multi-function devices or production systems and can also feature more specialized Xerox wide-format equipment for specific industry applications such as well logs and engineering drawings to name but a few.

“With oil prices rising, competition at its strongest and forecasts of increase in consumer demand, operational excellence is becoming more and more critical for success. Xerox Global Services has been helping the oil & gas industry to take a new look at these challenges and how best to address them,” said Adrian Mitchell, Global Services Manager, Xerox Middle East. “Our solutions and services to the oil & gas sector deliver measurable results and turn the toughest challenges into success stories.”

“Xerox has helped a number of the oil & gas companies around the world to reduce operating costs and maximize system productivity by 10%. Our customers include British Petroleum (BP), Manitoba, LG&E, Sunoco, Irving, DuPont and OXY,” added Mitchell.

For the office environment, Xerox experts will discuss with visitors, Xerox’s diverse office offering, which puts the cost of office printers and copiers on the radar. Delegates attending the numerous Xerox workshops conducted at the exhibition will get an insight into how they can gain more control of printing and document management costs, optimizing the mix of equipment in a sensible way whilst benefiting from numerous advanced features, such as security amongst many more.

Xerox was a key sponsor of the Excellence in Energy Awards, which was held on 3rd December 2006 at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi. This awards ceremony has become the region’s largest and most prestigious event for the Oil & Gas sector in the Middle East.
