Yemen’s Foreign Minister, Abu Baker al-Qerbi is to pay an official visit to Tehran by the end of this month, according to SABA News Agency.
26 September weekly quoted al-Qirbi as saying that this visit would deal with the current preparations and arrangements for the upcoming visit of Iranian President Mohammed Khatami to Yemen scheduled for next September, in reply to an invitation offered by President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Al Qirbi added that he would take this opportunity to hold with his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharazi, discussions on bilateral relations in various levels besides the latest developments on regional and international matters of common interest.
Al-Qerbi will fly to Cairo next Wednesday to participate in the Arab Monitory Committee to be held between July 11-12.
26 September has learned that the committee would review a number of issues related to the latest developments in the Middle East peace process and the situation in the Palestinian occupied territories, in wake of the Israeli escalation against the Palestinian unarmed civilians.
An informed source told 26 September weekly that amongst the issues to be discussed by the Monitory Committee are the Beirut summit's resolutions and recommendations, especially Arab acts on ways of activating the Arab peace initiative, declared in the Beirut summit. (Albawaba.com)
