The Prosecution of Sana'a is investigating a gang counterfeiting foreign currencies. The 10-member gang, consisting of nine Yemenis and an Iraqi national, was captured last week in Taiz, 270 kilometers south of Sana'a.
According to SABA, the gang possessed advanced electronic equipment with which they forged American and Saudi banknotes.
The gang opened an account in a Yemeni bank to deposit a large sum of forged money. Bankers found the notes' serial numbers were alike and doubted their authenticity.
The notes seized amounting to millions of dollars and Saudi rials, the report added. (Albawaba.com)
