A Yemeni found guilty of murder has been executed in the country's southern province of Shabwa, the official news agency SABA reported on Wednesday.
It said the verdict against Abdel Ghaffar Mohammad Ateq was upheld by Yemen's supreme court, but did not specify if the execution was carried out by firing squad, the usual method in Yemen.
Sixteen people were executed in 1999, according to an AFP count. That compares with two executions announced so far this year in Yemen, where the legal system is based on the Sharia laws of Islam – SANAA (AFP)
