Yemen's Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Al Kurbi on Monday highlighted the “deep relations tying Kuwait and Yemen,” while expressing hope for “further and true” bilateral cooperation.
Kurbi’s remarks came prior to his departure from Kuwait where he held talks with emir, Sheikh Jaber Al Saba, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.
“Kuwait and Yemen are in "one ship and share common concerns," he told reporters.
In response to a question on Yemen's stance regarding the latest Iraqi call to form an Arab committee to resolve the issue of Kuwaiti POWs in Iraq, he said: "We had informed the Kuwaiti government of the Yemeni stance regarding the issue...It is better that this be tackled at the two countries' government level."
KUNA said the minister delivered a message from President Ali Abdullah Saleh to the emir, concerning the fate of 600 Kuwaiti POWs held in Iraqi jails since the Gulf War.
Bilateral ties and the Palestinian crisis were the focus of talks between the minister and the emir, said the agency – Albawaba.com
