Three civilians in the Saudi border city of Najran have been killed after being struck by a missile coming from war-torn Yemen, AFP reported. According to a Saudi civil defense spokesperson, the attack left one Saudi national and two Indian workers dead.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen announced Friday in a separate incident that two missiles had been fired at the Kingdom from Yemen. One was intercepted by Saudi air defenses, while the other struck the desert area east of Najran, without any casualties.

The attack prompted Saudi Arabia's border guard to reiterate a warning urging residents to stay away from the border area.

The latest ceasefire has repeatedly been breached since United Nations-backed peace talks opened on Tuesday in Switzerland. Since March, Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition in support of embattled President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi. More than 5,800 people have so far been killed in the conflict - roughly half of them civilians - and wounded over 27,000, according to the UN. The UN announced that peace talks in Yemen have come to an abrupt halt following an outburst of violence in the country.
