A young Palestinian shepherd was killed Wednesday when he stepped on a landmine in a field occasionally used by the Israeli army for firing practice, a Palestinian source said.
Khalili Makhamra, 14, died instantly when the mine exploded in the field in the hamlet of Qirbat Jibna, near the village of Yata, in the Hebron district of the West Bank.
Makhamra had been pasturing his flock of sheep in the field when the accident occurred, the source said.
Local authority sources in Yata said there have been numerous similar cases in the area in recent years - HEBRON (AFP)
